When It’s NOT A Retouch!

When it comes to covering up someone else’s work, technicians often face a lot of challenges. The previous work might have been done years ago without using proper brow mapping techniques or using outdated methods that result in poorly shaped microblading, which can be deeply embedded in the skin.

Because of these challenges, many technicians simply prefer not to go over someone else’s work. It’s not just about touching up or refreshing the colour; it often requires a complete brow rebuild. This means correcting the shape, dealing with unusual colours, and addressing any scarring on the skin.

Working on a cover-up or going over someone else’s work is actually much harder and takes longer than working on fresh skin. Plus, it may never look as good as our own work on untouched skin.

It’s important to understand that this type of treatment isn’t just a simple retouch or colour boost when certain conditions are met:

1) We didn’t do the initial treatment on virgin skin.
2) The original treatment is more than 1.5 years old.
3) The pigment has faded so much that two treatments are needed for optimal results.
4) The brow shape is uneven (which happens quite often).
5) The brows have turned red, blue, green, orange, or some other funky color (often due to the initial pigment choice).

While it may not be impossible to improve the shape and colour of brows that need covering up, we want you to know that this process goes beyond a simple retouch or colour boost. A coverup will require 2 treatments and possibly a 3rd if there is significant scarring in the skin.

If you’re someone who needs their old brow treatment covered up and would like to enhance its shape and colour, please don’t hesitate to reach out! You can give me a call, send me an SMS with your photo for evaluation, or book a complimentary consultation where we can discuss what we can and cannot do for you.
