What's The Problem With Cover Ups?
If you’ve ever seen a Cover ups cosmetic tattoo on untouched skin, you’ll notice how much better it looks compared to Cover ups cosmetic tattoo work. When we have to cover up an older tattoo done by another technician, it’s difficult to achieve the same level of perfection as when we start fresh without any underlying microblading or feather touch. The shape, depth, and color of the existing tattoo influence how we proceed with the cover-up process. In many cases, it’s best to have it removed so we can begin anew, especially if your previous brow has faded partially.
I’ve encountered a few mature clients with very thick microbladed brows that just don’t suit them at all! I would never have given them that shape myself. Some technicians stick rigidly to one technique without considering factors like age, face shape, and personal preference.
These days, many cosmetic tattooists refuse to go over another technician’s work because it never looks as good as their own when they have the chance to start from scratch. However, since most mature clients already have some form of prior cosmetic tattooing (including myself), there is often a need for cover-up work.
In my honest opinion, I recommend considering laser tattoo removal before getting any new cosmetic tattoos. Even if your previous tattoo has significantly faded over time, removing it completely will give us a clean slate to work on.
By opting for laser removal beforehand, you allow yourself to benefit from our latest brow mapping techniques and pigments on the market. Starting fresh gives us the opportunity to create a look that you’ll absolutely love and feel great about.
